4M Kidzlabs Table Top Volcano
Review

We are very hands on in our homeschool lessons and as I was solo parenting this weekend I thought I would grab some fun science activities for Hamish and I to do.
So, I bought this 4M Kidslab table top volcano.
Originally I thought it was a Volcano kit, much like the ones we’ve bought before but I soon discovered it us just the plastic model.
However
This really didn’t stop me from immediately realizing just how much more efficient this little Volcano model is.

Why I love this volcano model
Until now we’ve used little plastic brown or red volcano model kits.
Even though they come with all the necessary equipment to make a volcanoc eruption, these plastic models are not all that realistic.
I much prefer the look to this volcano.

What immediately stands out with this model is how you can see through the light orange plastic to the detailed diagram underneath.
The diagram is labeled with parts of the volcano and is easy for kids who are beginning to learn to label science diagrams. It also helps childrrn to visualise a bolcano exploding and teachers to explain better without needing to pull out worksheets.

The middle section of the volcano comes out for easy cleaning and has a small tube in which you insert the bicarb and vinegar.
The realistic little model is easy to store and would look attractive on a science shelf when not in use.
It is definitely a great addition to our science center.

How to make a volcano
As the kit does not contain any chemicals to actually make the volcanic eruption, we headed down yo the kitchen to grab the bicarb and vinegar and made our own volcanic eruption.

To make your own volcano
You will need:
- Bicarb
- Vinegar
Method
- In a container add 2 teaspoons of bicarb to half a cup of vinegar.
- I always place the bicarb first and then have the kids add the vinegar to see the reaction.
- You can add red food colouring to make your lava look more realistic.
