5 easy steps for making beautiful air dry clay floral imprint tiles

Make your own Clay floral imprint tiles using air dry clay

Art is a big part of our weekly homeschool lessons and as we are focused on soil and clay this week I decided to use some air drying clay to let Hamish make some small tiles with floral imprints on them.

They came out really nicely and are drying as I type this. These will look stunning as is in their natural terracotta shade, or painted a white with the flowers and leaves in contrasting shades.

To paint them you can use any acrylic paint. I often use a Dala paint for crafts.

Make you own Clay tiles

You will need:

  • Self hardening Clay
  • Leaves and flowers ( we used faux flowers)
  • Paint if you want to paint them when dry

Method

  • Roll out and cut your tile from Clay.
  • Press the leaves and flowers in to form a design

  • Leave to dry . I leave ours from 12- 48 hours depending on the weather. The clay hardens faster in warm weather and stays wetter in colder weather.

How to use your tile

Once your tile is dry you can use them for decorating, add magnets for the fridge , in scrapbook ingredients, as gifts or remembering to add a hole for ribbon before drying, they can be used to hang on Christmas trees, in cars or in your cupboards with a little essential oil.
