A visit to Assagaaibosch nature reserve

A visit to Assagaaibosch nature reserve

We recently visited Assagaaibosch nature reserve and absolutely loved the beauty and tranquility of this little reserve.

Assegaaibosch is a small nature reserve in the Jonkershoek valley. It is about 9km from Stellenbosch and 204 hectares in size.

The reserve lies next to the Eerste River, which forms the northern boundary and extends up the north-eastern slope of Stellenbosch Mountain, which forms the southern boundary.

Along with Jonkershoek Nature Reserve, Assegaaibosch is a World Heritage Site.

The reserve has a lovely shallow river for the kids to explore, cool off in and find some river creatures.

There were short trails to follow and we even encountered a troop of baboons along our little walk.

The picnic area is shaded with well maintained tables, seating and bathrooms.

Overall Assagaaibosch nature reserve  makes for a great family outing.

Enjoy a day out at a cost of R40 and hiking for R60 per day per adult. (Please note that only 60 people are allowed per day.)
