Birthday stay at Saldanha Bay Hotel

Birthday Stay at Saldanha Bay Hotel

To celebrate my birthday this year, Brent booked us a night away at Saldanha Bay Hotel

I often see the great specials offered on their social media pages and was keen to experience this hotel for myself.

The drive to Saldanha from Tableview, takes just over an hour and the end of August is the perfect time to travel these roads as the fields come alive with canola and wild flowers, sharing kilometers of beautiful coloured floral carpets.

It truly is one of my favourite drives and before we knew it we had entered the little coastal town of Saldanha and wete headed to our hotel.

The hotel is immaculate and we were greeted by the friendly receptionist who offered us our key card and directed us to our room, the underground parking and most importantly, as it was the raining, the games room for Hamish.

After moving our car to the underground parking, which had constant security, we unpacked our bags and wheeled them to our room. A friendly porter offered assistance and Hamish very much just wanted to try calling room service.

Our room was sea facing with a side door opening onto a small balcony and looking directly out at the play area. This meant I could relax with my coffee and watch Hamish play on the grass.

Beautifully decorated with two double beds, desk, table and chairs, an ensuite, fridge, coffee station and TV. We had all our needs and comforts sorted.

Keeping Hamish busy was easy as both of us enjoyed playing chess with the giant garden set, walking along the jetty, watching the boats and exploring the hotel.

We also fitted in a quick game of putt putt on Sunday before we left and a visit to the pool.

The games room however did not live up to our expectations, as most of the game parts were absent and there was little besides Dupblo to keep him entertained. I’m hoping that this was due to us visiting out of season as I have seen advertising for holiday activities for kids in season.

There is also a gym and both badminton and fuseball tables available for older kids.

Arriving after lunch, we didn’t make use of the hotel lounge or restaurants as we ate off premisis for supper but out package included breakfast and we thoroughly enjoyed the buffet breakfast spread on Sunday morning.

All too soon it was time to pack our bags and head home after a wonderfully relaxed stay.We will certainly head back in Summer.
