I can’t resist a caricature drawing and we’ve collected a few over the years, so, when I saw that The Paddocks Shopping centre, was offering caricature drawings for Fathers Day, I bookmarked the day and we headed off to get a new picture to frame.
What is a caricature?
A caricature drawing is an illustration that shows an exaggerated description or visual representation of the subject, in order to critique or satirical them.
Fathers Day Caricature
We arrived a few minutes early and had a really short wait before it was Brent and Hamishs turn.
They took their seats infront of the talented Amber Sketches as she carefully studied their faces ready to bring their personalities and likeness to life in a quirky fun drawing.
The process took about 15 minutes and there was an easy banter between them all as she got them to relax.
Watching the process transfered us as an audience, as she quickly manovered her pencil in a light sketch before outlining the entire sketch in marker.
The best part of the process was watching Hamishs face when he finally saw what the image looked like ….priceless !
