Meet Grandma Goose
A fun miniature holiday tradition to start with your family

Have you heard of a porch goose?
A porch goose is a trend currently going around where you take a large goose statue and place it on your porch. Then you dress it up for holidays.
Well I really wanted one
But we all know you can’t leave anything outside in South Africa for fear of it being stolen, so a quick Google search led me to the ….desk goose!
And I fell in love.

Meet Grandma Goose
Finding my desk goose, I decided to name her Grandma goose and use her much in the same way as an elf on the shelf, to share special moments with Hamish and my grandkids.
I love the idea of dressing her up, taking photos of her while we are at interesting places to share with my grandkids and to introduce her at each holiday with a new scene of accessories.
The truth is, I will find any reason to add a little fun, magic and whimsy to our lives and it just happens to be in the form of a goose right now.

The goose is made of ceramic and stands 17cm tall. She actually reminds me of my childhood Mother Goose story books and whilst she does not come with wings, many of the outfits available for her are sewn with fake wings. I was also able to order her a set of wings to attatch to her body.
Originally I wanted to display her in my lounge but for now she lives on my bedside table.

I had so much fun choosing her outfit, finding some miniture decor for her theme and see her becoming a new tradition in many of our holidays.
Where to buy a goose
I purchased her and all the miniature items from Temu as I couldn’t find a South African supplier for the desk goose.
My goose on special wax only R70 but they price up to R200.
Outfits start at around R45 and she has an extensive wardrobe of clothing.
For the accessories,I searched through the doll house miniatures to find items that matched this month’s theme.

Because October is Halloween month I choose a cute little Pumpkin patch sign, basket and mini ceramic pumpkins. These I arranged on a small wooden round stand with some faux moss on top.
Watch this space because I am literally obsessed with my new goose friend.
