Online Art Classes
As a homeschool parent I am always looking for good quality, extra murals to keep Hamish challenged and he recently did his first online art class with Teacher Rheece, and he loved it!
Benefits of art lessons for kids
Art is so much more than just drawing pictures or making crafts.
Art can, in fact, assist children to develop a wide range of skills and abilities that will serve them throughout their lives.
Creativity
Art promotes creativity.
All children are born creative, however, they need to be nurtured and encouraged to explore their creativity. Art activities give them the opportunity to develop their individual creativity, develop their imagination, and experiment with a variety of different materials, techniques, and styles.
Fine motor development
Art helps to develop your child’s fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
Drawing, painting, and sculpting will all require precise movements and control, which can strengthen the muscles of the hand and fingers.
Enhanced cognitive development
Art enhances cognitive development.
Creating art involves problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making. Each of these are important skills that children will need to succeed in both their academic and personal lives as they grow.
Social and emotional well-being
Art promotes social and emotional well-being.
Children can freely express their emotions through art, and in turn, learn to communicate effectively with their peers through collaboration and sharing.
This can help to build a child’s confidence, self-esteem, and social skills.
Holistic development
A child who engages in art and creative activities is allowed to develop to their fully, as art stimulates their creativity, enhances their motor skills and cognitive abilities, and promote their social and emotional well-being.
Online Art Classes
This is just one of the many reasons we chose to try Teacher Rheeces classes.
Whilst we are more a hands on in class family, this year weve realised our limitations and as I don’t drive , using an online class is really convenient for us.
It also allows us to schedule lessons in between our daily time table.
So, for only R100 a class which are held every Tuesday and Thursday, you can’t find a better art teacher.
My impression
I sat in on his first lesson and was impressed with …
🎨 How Teacher Rheece addressed each child and checked in on them throughout the lesson. He also concluded the lesson by asking how they felt about their picture.
🎨 Lessons are held in a secure meetup and the kids were clearly instructed how to mute their microphone, ask for help and maximize the screen.
🎨 Parents can sit in the lesson and whatsapp questions. There is also a dedicated whatsapp group where relevant information, about lessons, is shared for parents.
🎨 The step by step instructions are age appropriate and clear
🎨 The kids are encouraged throughout that there’s no perfect art ! I especially love this as most high achieving kids focus on perfection and find art classes difficult because their image does not match the visual in their head.
🎨 The image to draw was shown clearly as the only focus on the screen, so kids are not distracted.
🎨 The class is global so there are kids from various parts of the world in the art class.
If you’re looking for art lessons for this year, I highly recommend Rheece.
This is brilliant for kids (and adults) with diverse social needs. Not everyone enjoys being out in public. Thanks to Lockdown, these mental health situations were heightened and we’ve had to adapt to our surroundings. Continued learning is key to growing, so online classes have definitely found their place in the market. Well done Teacher Rheece, and Hamish for your efforts.
I couldn’t agree more. Online classes definitely have their place in modern learning.
