Polkadot clothing is a trendy women’s clothing botique owned by Karlien Botha.
A few days ago she gave a shout out for every day women to come and model her new spring line. I was hesitant but signed up .
You see, the odd piece of grey hair, fabulous forty wrinkles and way too much baby weight looked back at me mockingly screaming “ YOU gotta be kidding me – YOU ?! Ha ha ha!!!“
So why sign up?
I even shared my thoughts on my self conciousness at not losing my baby weight with a 2 year old running under foot on Instagram.
Regardless of my self conciousness and nerves this looked like so much fun. I’m always open to new adventures and trying things I havent done before and it dawned on me I was about to pass up the opportunity to go have fun because I was concerned at how the photos would look. Which rolls would be sticking out and whether or not the clothing would cover my chicken wings.
I have tried to teach my children through my love of life and eagerness to shine, so by giving in to my self conciousness I’d only be showing them it’s ok to let fear rule your life.
Not a chance was I doing that . So I put on my crown and regained my sparkle ready for the photos … good or bad.
Before
Apprehesivly I woke up on Tuesday and started my pamper routine… wash hair, try get all the waves and curls out and do a proper shave, not a half leg because my toddler is yelling at the door.
The clothing line is white on white so that required white , flattering underware. Quick squizz in the cupboard and I yanked out my wedding bodysuit.
Modest enough to cover all but sexy enough to look awesome 😉 and it’s also the only white I own …again I need to mention the toddler.
If there’s ever a war that a toddler wins hand down its toddler vs white clothing. Between peanut butter sandwhiches, paint and playdough I’m not wearing white for at least another 8 years.
Then came the before selfie.
Friends
My friend and collegue, Karolien de kock from Moms Directory popped past with her husband to collect me and off we went ….no turning back now.
We arrived to the friendly greeting of Karlien and her husband the photographer. I was immediatly at ease.
Beautiful clothing draped the single silver rail and hinted at the pampering we were going to recieve in our 2 hour slot.
Pamper time
Karolien and I dropped our bags, grabbed two luxourious fluffy gowns and headed to the bathroom to change, giggling like 16 year olds.
In true blogger mom style we first needed photos and I’m sure the women wondered why it took us 20 minutes to change into a robe.
We were gently positioned on a stylish couch and the warm facial began. I’m not a pamper princess as I hate people touching my face and hair but this mini facial was so gentle , I love the Artistry products and was put at complete ease as I sat waiting for my face mask to set and drink my first hot cup of coffee for the week.
After the relaxing facial, we were quietly ushered off to have our make up done.
Now those who know me know I hardly wear any make up at all. So I was a little concerned at just how bright my face was going to be made up.
First a natural foundation which I absolutly fell in love with … goodbye sun spots and am actually for the first time in my life going to buy.
Next some natural nutral tones to highlight my own no make up look. On first glance in the mirror i could hardly even tell i had make up on.
This amazingly talented women was responsible for making us mommy bloggers into models for the day .
Time to shine
And so the real reason for our pampering was revealed as we walked into the photographers room.
I was super impressed at how professional it all looked. I almost felt like I was at the shoot of Glamour or Cosmopolitian magazine .
The photographer was warm, relaxed and complimentry. My size far too big bum was forgotten as I laughed and sucked my tummy in. The chicken wings were hidden behind clever poses and as I changed my hairstyle half way through he patiently waited for me to finish.
The clothing
I cant wait to show you this amazing range of clothing . I am in love .
Super stylish, totally comfortable and very flattering on my unflattering body.
Basic pieces that can be dressed up to compliment all occasions. A simplistic range that is suitable for women of various ages and the soft flow to each piece screams with the gentleness of femininity.
Karlien has a natural flare for making every women feel like a princess in her new white on white range.
