Every child needs a dragon

My childhood was full of the wonder and magic of fairies, dragons and unicorns.

I lived in a fairy land where dreams came true and anything was possible.

Some may argue that this is distorting to children but i believe life needs a little magic. Children need to believe in the impossible to achieve their dreams as adults.

Fairytales are important.

So when I saw Imadeit.co.za had designed magical wooden money boxes in unicorn and dragon shapes I knew Bear needed his first dragon.

As a child I had spent many hours singing the folk song PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON ( see below for lyrics) and this money box resembled the Puff of my youth.

Our dragon flew in…

Magically a courier knocked on our door and bear ripped open the packet to find his new best friend.

They were inseparable and it was easy to forget this well made wooden dragon is actually a money box.

Bear rushed outside, dragon in arms as their adventures in the grass began.

Making dragon noises

There were giggles.

There was laughing.

But mostly there was adoring looks and huge big hugs and kisses …. bear had found his puff 😍

Treasures and toys

While bear adored his new dragon i took some time to look at the quality and was happy to find that not only is this beautifully crafted, it’s also designed to be sturdy enough to with stand a toddler dropping it. There are also no sharp edges or splinters.

I love the clear centre that allows your child to see how much they saving and where their money is going. It opens with small screws when you ready to take your money out.

Peek a boo

The design is appealing to little ones ( and their mommies) and compliments any bedroom decor.

Teaching your child to save and have good money sense is just as important as reading fairy tales….both help your child to make their dreams come true one day.

This is one of the most loved items in bears room and he often sleeps with his dragon.

Puff the magic dragon

Magic dragon

Puff the magic dragon
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee
Little Jackie paper loved that rascal puff
And brought him strings and sealing wax and other fancy stuff oh
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee
Together they would travel on a boat with billowed sail
Jackie kept a lookout perched on puff’s gigantic tail
Noble kings and princes would bow whene’er they came
Pirate ships would lower their flag when puff roared out his name oh
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee
A dragon lives forever but not so little boys
Painted wings and giant rings make way for other toys
One grey night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more
And puff that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar
His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain
Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane
Without his life-long friend, puff could not be brave
So Puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave oh
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee
Lyrics: Leonard Tipton / Peter Yarrow
