Hamish loves to be busy in the kitchen, so I am always looking for fun new cooking or baking kits for him to try.
I absolutely adore these kids’ boba bubble tea kits from Annie & Co and I couldn’t wait to try it out with him.
What is Boba ?
Boba or bubble tea is of Taiwanese origin and the bubbly beverage first appeared in the 1980s. Today it is immensely popular worldwide.
Boba tea is made as a sweet and refreshing treat with the unique ingredient of tapioca balls at the bottom. These tapioca balls, known as boba, make the beverage taste chewy, creamy and tasty as the boba pearls pop in your mouth.
The boba pearls are made of tapioca starch, which comes from the cassava root.
Boba tea is traditionally served with thick straws allowing you to suck up the boba in each sip of tea.
How do you make Boba tea?
Boba tea can be made using any type of tea, although black tea is most commonly used.
As boba tea is easily customizable, and is avaliable in a wide variety of flavors and toppings,it’s recommended that you use a very milky tea.
Once your tea is made, choose your syrup flavor and boba topping. Flavors range from fruity to earthy, and may include an variety of options.
As a last step you will add your sugar, although many teas will not need more sugar, and how much ice you’d like to add to your cup.

A Bubble tea party
With Hamish’s enthusiasm and this cute boba tea kit we decided to grab some balloons and treats and host a Bubble tea party in our lounge.
See how much fun we had here
Hamish set up the tea, flavours, boba pearls, ice and candy floss on the dining room table and invited the family to enjoy a bubble tea made specially for them by him.
Each family member chose a different flavour and everyone loves their tea slightly differently. Hamish doesn’t like tea and so we added his flavours and pearls to fizzy lemonade. It tasted just as delicious.
My thoughts
I love these kits and think it is a great product not only for a fun activity but also as a gift or for birthday parties and school holidays.
There was more than enough tea, flavours and boba pearls for us to make use of the kit even after all 6 family members had enjoyed a cup of boba.
The candyfloss was a lovely addition to the kit as were the stickers, which Hamish used to decorate the plates holding treats for his party.
I love the cute characters on the tubs and bottles and feel it adds to the fun and excitement as your kids create their own teas.
Over all an affordable, good quality kit that offers lots of fun and creative bonding time with the family.
