CBM South Africa presents a concert in the dark

Imagine, never knowing the beauty of the rainbow of hues that span across a wild field of flowers, never seeing the firey sky of a sunset or never seeing the tallness of a tree .

Imagine never seeing your little one look up to you with love in their eyes, never watching their first step or knowing what the shape of their faces look like.

Imagine ….

A world of darkness!

For many this is a daily reality!

For others it could have been avoided if only they had the resources avaliable to seek help when they first discovered darkness casting shadows in their eyes.

Did you know that 80 % of blindness is treatable?
But it can not be treated alone ….

CBM South Africa

CBM South Africa is part of the CBM international family. Their vision is to break down barriers and misconceptions surrounding disability through various programs around South Africa.

HOPE FOR THE BLIND is one of those programs.

In partnership with Hope For The Blind, CBM South Africa hopes to reduce preventable blindness amidst indigent patients by providing the much needed resources for cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, paediatric and other eye surgery.

According to statistics worldwide 1.4 million people are affected by blindness and a child goes blind every minute!

Into the light

In order to reach the goal of bringing as many people the gift of sight, CBM South Africa have partnered with the majestic voices of the Cape Town Youth Choir to bring you an unforgettable sensory experience.

The Into the Light fundraiser, under the direction of Leon Starker, will be held on the 6 October 2018 in the Hugo Lamorechts Auditorium in Parrow, Cape Town.

Through the powerful use of music, this unique concert will lead you through a sensory explosion allowing you to comprehend the sensation of loosing and regaining your sight.

Travel through the Light as it slowly fades to leave you engulfed by 20 minutes of pitch darkness, with only the music leading you.

For a full 20 minutes understand the world of someone without sight.

Slowly, as the Light begins to shine again and your eyes cast sight of the choir , empathise with those, who living in the constraints of a darkened world are once again given the hope of sight.
