Checkers minis return with a hint of 80’s nostalgia
Checkers minis have returned this year with a touch of 1980’s nostalgia, introducing a fun sticker book and 50 cute stickers to collect and trade.

As a young girl in the 80’s I absolutely loved my sticker collection and spent hours ( and too much pocket money) collecting new stickers and albums to put them in before swopping out stickers with my friends.
This was a huge part of my childhood and these fun bubble albums and glossy stickers add a wonderful sense of nostalgia as I retell my own sticker collecting stories to my children and grandchildren.
In an instant the excitement of opening a packet to try find just the right sticker for your collection, has me right back on the school yard grass area during lunch break trying to trade a smelly pineapple sticker for the shiny ballerina.
Good marketing
And that is what Checkers hone in on.
Not only are Checkers a household brand across all demographics and income brackets but they will forever now be deeply rooted in every Gen z and Gen alpha child’s childhood with their sixty 6O merch and mini collections.
Before we had the awesome Sixty 60 outfits, bikes and toys. Then came the building bricks, puzzles, colouring books, stationary and even birthday party decor.
Then came the collectibles…mini shops, plants and of course we saw the rise of an annual mini grocery collection that had more moms than kids collecting.
The madness had started. Whatsapp groups were arranged, swops were held and a whole underground movement began to trade items to get your collection complete. (Who can forget the exuberant sales on market place for the rare pink mini trolley.)
But now, Checkers has entered a whole new era bringing generations closer by combining a strong brand with good, wholesome family fun.
The toy world started to understand that the kidults of today are using their adult money in collections of toys, pop culture merch and micro collections and Checkers have very cleverly jumped on board.
I won’t lie….I’m here for it. To be very honest, I may be more obsessed than the kids.
So, heres to spending way too much money at Checkers just to collect another collection of minis that my child will forget about as he dives into the next trend.
But
One that when he’s older will hold great memories of that time his mom hunted high and low just to find the standard bank sticker.
Thanks Checkers for keeping us busy for the next few months. Next year can we please have little grocery stuffies….I’d love to cuddle my can of Ricoffee whilst drinking a cup and planning my budget to get the full collection.
