City of Cape Town’s Festive Lights Switch-On

It’s time for the City of Cape Town’s beloved Festive Lights Switch-On in Adderley St thus Sunday, 30 November 2025.
The party that will be headlined by influential Amapiano DJ ZINHLE, is set to kick off at 16h00 on the Grand Parade and will end at 22h00.
You can expect a night of music and dance, all inspired by this year’s theme, “United in Hope”.
The line-up of artists also includes GOODLUCK, The Heavenly Quartez, Kurt Darren, Karabo Mogane, Tarryn Lamb, Early B & Justin Vega, and crowd-favourite DJ Masoodah. The spirited D6 Hanover Minstrel Group will also perform.
Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis’s is holding a Festive-wear Challenge. Come dressed in your best festive outfit that fits the theme, “Wear the Hope – Share the Light”.
For this occasion, the Mayor will don the official festive jersey, designed by competition winner Marnus Botha, who will help to switch on the lights.
The top three dance troupes in the Move with Melody Dance Competition will also be performing on the main stage in a vibrant showcase designed to spotlight the creativity and talent of Capetonians.
Parking and road closures:
- No parking will be permitted on Adderley and Darling Sts from midnight on Saturday 29 November until Monday 1 December at 05h00.
- Darling and Parade Sts will be closed from 12h00 on Saturday 29 November until 05h00 on Monday 1 December.
- Streets partly closed from 05h00 on Sunday 30 November to 05h00 on Monday 1 December are Corporation, Lower Plein, Plein, Castle, Buitenkant, Parliament, Longmarket, Church and Hout Sts.
