Enjoying a Day at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden for National Garden Week
We took advantage of the free entry at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden for #nationalgardenweek yesterday and enjoyed a relaxing morning at the gardens.
We love visiting Kirstenbosch and every time we visit we always discover something new to us, that we’ve not seen before.
The garden also changes with the seasons and we could see Autumn’s golden touch yesterday as we strolled around.
About National Garden Week
National gardens week is an annual event where South African citizens can enjoy our SABI National gardens and parks free.
The purpose is to promote environmental awareness and to encourage and highlight the importance of indigenous plants.
The theme for 2026 is Grow your Joy.
Participating Gardens and Parks include Kirstenbosch (Cape Town), Pretoria National Botanical Garden, Free State National Botanical Garden, and others across all nine provinces.
South African citizens gain free access with their South African ID and there are always a variety of activities, talks, guided tours, workshops, plant sakes and art exhibitions scheduled during this week.
