MSC cruise roadshow

Last night I attended the MSC Cruise roadshow at Avenue conference centre at the V & A Waterfront.

True to their luxurious reputation MSC pulled out all the stops and spoilt us with amazing food and great entertainment throughout the evening.

Arrival

I arrived at the MSC roadshow and was greeted by a blue carpet with a stunning view of one of the MSC cruise liners.
Walking upstairs into the Avenue conference centre with its splendid fish tank that forms part of the Two Oceans Aquarium we were greeted by friendly MSC staff who quickly got us registered and led us to a selection of drinks, massage treatments, and delicious nibbles.

Supper

Supper was served at 7pm and the menu consisted of:
Starters
Home-made roasted tomato tart served with garden greens and balsamic reduction.
Palette cleanser
A berry sorbet
Main course
A duet if chicken roulade with basil pesto and feta with sundried tomato puree
And
Beef-filled medallion with a sweet beef marrow jus accompanied with herbed crushed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
Desert
A flaming chocolate lava cake served with creme Anglaise, berries, and biscuit crumbs.
The meals were 5 star and melted in your mouth, with dessert being the perfect finale to the evening.
Entertainment
The MC for the evening kept us laughing and entertained with a virtual quiz show.
We enjoyed learning more about the MSC foundation, and the work they did during covid and for the KZN flood relief.
I was also interested to learn more about Shozoloza, their hospitality school, and maritime recruitment and training centre, opening opportunities for our youth to become more employable and I will definitely be blogging about this more.
The CEO for MSc cruises,  Ross Volk, took time to address the audience and share the good news that The MSC Splendida will be traveling to South African waters.
We also heard about MSC’s goal to become 100% sustainable with no carbon footprint.
Alongside these, we were entertained by a local comedian ( apologies, I forgot his name) and the talented violinist, Renate from Renate music.
Final thoughts
It was a wonderful evening and as it’s on our bucket list to book a cruise next year, I was eager to hear more about the company and its fleet of 19 cruise liners, helping me to make a more informed choice when choosing to travel with my family.
