Small bay in Blouberg
A safe family beach
Small Bay beach, with its idealic views of Table mountain, is separated by a sandy section of beach, submerged at high tide , from Blouberg’s popular Big bay beach.
This is one of my personal favourites to visit with the kids as the the large rocks across the mouth of the bay act as a natural breakwater, reducing the power of the waves and making ot safer for kids to swim and explore the many rock pools that are exposed during a low tide.
Small bay is safe for swimming and water sport and you can often find young children learning to swim in the calmer pools, paddling on boogie boards, fishing off the rocks or exploring the rock pools.
We often visit this particular beach and spent Sunday morning strolling the sand, exploring the rock pools with Hamish and enjoying the sea, sun and sand.
This beach, due to the many rocks, has a large area of sand that is covered in broken shells. It’s always fun to sift between them to find a few ocean treasures to bring home.
This beach has a dedicated parking bay as well as changing facilities, showers and public rest rooms.
There is a paved walkway which many people use to run, stroll or walk dogs and a grassy area with benches where you can sit and take in the view.
It’s also good to note that the beach has disability access.
So, add this to your summer bucket list and enjoy a day in the sun.
