The Bench Eatery and Bar Review

Not knowing George too well, we stopped in at The Bench Eatery & Bar to grab a quick supper.

First Impressions

I was blown away from the minute I entered. The steampunk decor, huge pizza oven, and incredible artwork won me over immediately.
I was mesmerized by the stark contrasts. The simplicity of the benches against the luxury of the couches. The highly decorated Stem punk artwork against the simplistic engineering drawings… I love it all.
Brent ventured upstairs to a bar area and chose seating downstairs for us in a more family supper ambiance. The Bench actually has 3 venues rolled into one space and they boast a barista, pizza oven, and an upstairs bar with HD TV screens.
As soon as I was seated, our waiter arrived and the service was top-class. He was attentive, and polite, quickly swopping from Afrikaans to English and took the time to come down to Hamish’s level and include him by asking him what he wanted to order.

Menu

The menu is quite extensive and caters to most people’s needs from Chilli poppers to nachos, muscle pots, and toasties there is something for everyone’s tastes. You’ll also find lavish breakfasts, delectable cakes, barista coffees, sensational seafood meals, an extensive burger and woodfire pizza range, and their famous Freak shakes ….
I chose the nachos and it was tasty. Not like the nachos from my local, but favorable and a great fusion of tastes.
Hamish ordered a pizza which was mouth-watering. Just crispy enough with a generous helping of pineapple.
Brent’s burger and chips looked amazing, and I can’t fault the presentation here at all. He really enjoyed his burger.
The Bench is licensed and you can buy your favorite alcoholic drinks as well as beers on tap, soft drinks, milkshakes, hot drinks, and mocktails. I highly recommend the mocktails.
Thoughts
All in all, it was a great evening out. The amazing service from the staff definitely adds to the unique ambiance and this is. Lovely space for a date night, family supper, or work lunch.
I’m sorry I didn’t get more photos and I’ll certainly be back.

Things to note

The Bench has a 4-star rating on Trip advisor.
They are vegetarian-friendly.
They offer takeaway and can cater to any occasion.
Child Friendly – I’m unsure how to grade on child friendly because although we could eat out with Hamish ( 6) and the service was amazing if you have younger kiddies looking for a play area I would recommend another restaurant.
