10 lucky ladies were invited to the fabulous Balance -Cape Town pop up candle shop at Durbanville Hills wine estate.
Colleen and I were lucky enough to attend the event this morning.
Hosted by the owner Debbie, an inspirational woman with a welcome as warm as her candles.
Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm cup of coffee as we waited for the other guests to arrive. I couldn’t help but notice the gentle smell of fig as I walked over to the fireplace to snap a few pictures.
Hidden amidst the beautiful contempory decor of a lounge area in Durbanville Hills, the candles gave off a rich air of sophistication as they sat strategically placed for us to admire.
As we spoke, it was very obvious that Debbie both loves her products and has a passion for her business.
As the other ladies arrived, each of us was presented with a glass of Durbanville Hills sparkling Sauvignon blanc.
And so began our informal candle understanding workshop. I was delighted to find that Balance empowers women in the production of the soy candles and that each candle is named after a South African memory.
The Karoo candle stood out for me as it reminded me of my farm days when I lived in Aberdeen, in the Eastern Cape .
Then it was time for some wine tasting.
Durbanville Hills spoilt us with 8 different wines to taste and personally I really enjoy their Pinotage.
It was great to sit back and network with some well known ladies in business and nice to put a face to a business name.
It was also fantastic to bump into friend and fellow blogger , Karolien from Mom’s Directory S.A. Life happens and we seldom see each other so a quick catch up is always welcome.
All in all it was a wonderful ladies morning, with great company, fantastic products, amazing wines and lots of laughter.
Thank you Debbie for hosting us.
