The film has grossed $100M in under two weeks of theatrical release

Paramount Pictures today announced that Smile has exceeded $100 million in worldwide box office gross. In just under two weeks of release, the film, which opened at #1 domestically in its first weekend of theatrical release, has grossed over $55.5M in the domestic box office and $46.8M in the international box office for a cumulative
worldwide total of $102.3M to-date.

Smile rose to 24 markets in the second weekend where the movie went up an incredible 32%.

Top markets include:

United Kingdom $5.9M,

Mexico $4.6M,

Germany $4.0M,

France $3.6M,

Australia $2.5M,

Spain $2.4M,

and Brazil $1.7M.

“The moment we saw this film we knew it had immense cinematic potential, and we’re beyond
thrilled and proud to see that audiences around the world agree wholeheartedly and are
turning out in record numbers,” said Brian Robbins, CEO and President of Paramount Pictures.
“Thank you to our director, Parker Finn, our creative partners and our production team for
delivering a fantastically terrifying movie; and thank you to our global marketing and
distributions teams for hitting it out of the park once again.”

The #1 opening and subsequent success of Smile has been underpinned by an innovative and
robust marketing campaign, including a grassroots stunt that went viral, in which grotesquely
“smiling” actors were placed in high visibility locations appearing on camera during TV
broadcasts such as in the stands behind home plate at baseball games, in the stands of NFL
games and among the audience during morning shows. The stunt generated press coverage,
significant social conversation and over 35M+ video views on social media. Other marketing
highlights included AR lenses in partnership with Instagram and Snapchat allowing users to
spread creepy smiles on their socials at an alarming rate of 5X the rate vs. other entertainment
properties; On the popular site Giphy, custom Gifs were viewed over 400M times and Smile became the first brand integration on the AI Model site Craiyon; and a world premiere as the
opening night film for Fantastic Fest in Austin—the largest genre film festival in the U.S.

After witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon)
starts experiencing frightening occurrences that she can’t explain. As an overwhelming terror
begins taking over her life, Rose must confront her troubling past in order to survive and escape
her horrifying new reality.

Smile is written and directed by Parker Finn, produced by Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac
Klausner, and Robert Salerno; and executive produced by Adam Fishback.
Smile stars Sosie Bacon, Jessie T. Usher, Kyle Gallner, Robin Weigert, Caitlin Stasey with Kal
