Have you seen the large CAPE TOWN sign at The V & A Waterfront yet?
Unveiled in time for it to shine for New Years Eve,at the Joy to Africa from the world event at Alfred Square, the CAPE TOWN sign, which stands 1.6m high, is gorgeous at night, but even more impressive when you read about it’s inspiration and see the amazing artwork behind each letter.
Hamish and I spent some time admiring these larger than life letters and admiring the talented art work on the background.
Specially created to celebrate the cities identity, each intricate 3D letter represents one of 8 Cape mountainous topographical slopes, forming a unique fingerprint of our beautiful Cape region.
C- Hout bay mountain
A- Hottentot Holland Range
P- Paarl mountain
E- Stellenbosch Mountains
T- Atlantis Bobbejaanberg
O- Lions head
W- Table mountain
N- Cape Point Fanicular Upper
The amazing original artworks behind each letter, further highlights these regions’ fauna, flora and people.
With a message to you to know that….
” THERE IS MAGIC IN EVERY LAYER THAT MAKES YOU WHO YOU ARARE”
So, when you’re next at the V & A Waterfront, grab a selfie or two of Cape Towns new iconic, Instagram worthy landmark sign.
