Canal walk has to be one of my favourite shopping malls, mostly because they offer a wide variety of shops and a rich assortment of entertainment over the holidays.
We can honestly go for breakfast, get our shopping done, entertain Hamish and grab lunch before heading home.
So, if you’re heading to Canal Walk these holidays, here’s my list of things to do whilst there.
1. Shop
Naturally… Canal Walk really do have it all from groceries to clothing, books and toys. They also have several speciality shops like Lindt, where you can grab all those festive luxuries.
2. Build fun creations at the Lego shop
If you are shopping with kids, no trip to Canal walk is ever complete without stopping in at the Lego shop to build.
These holidays your child can also write letters to Santa in store. Hamish loves this store and the friendly staff are always welcoming, even when we just pop in to build.
3. Create a wish list at Toys R Us
Let the kids grab a Geoffrey’s big book of toys from Toys R us and create their in wish list.
They also often have toy demonstrations and in store activities on the weekend. Watch their social media for these.
4. Watch a movie at Numetro
Numetro have a great kids theatre fully equipped with fun play area, drawing stations and games. Now your kids can watch a movie on the big screen in a space designed just for them.
5. Play games at the arcade
Canal Walk have a great kids games arcade where the kids ( and parents) can spend time playing arcade games and going on rides.
6. Take a trip in the Canal Walk kids train
I never manage to catch the train normally on days when it is running, but I do usually visit in the morning of a weekday. Best to check the board or information booth for more details if you visit out of holiday time.
The train is operational every day of the holidays and costs R20 a ride.
7. Eat out
Eat out at all your favourite restaurants and fast food stores. From the reasonably prices Xpresso stores, where everything is R12 to your families favourite Spur.
Hamish, who goes crazy for a donut, loves Krispy Kreme and we always grab a quick selfie in their fun window.
8. Join the ice slides
Canal walks famous ice slides are back and you can enter the Disney wish inspired winter winderland for some great family fun. We visited last week and the kids had the best fun.

9. Disney Charity Tree
Check out the giant Christmas tree in the good Court, beautifully decorated with Dusney Wish plushies. These toys will raise funds for the Reach for a Dream Foundation.

10. Meet Santa
Your favourite Jolly old st. Nick will be at Canal Walk, outside of the ice slides from 9 – 24 December for you to grab those Christmas pics from as little as R70.
Enjoy a fun filled day at Canal Walk Shopping centre with this fun list of things to do with your family.
